ok.. i want to remove the carb from my 84 200es Big red, i removed the seat, removed the gas tank, i know i have to unscrew the thumb throttle cable from the top.

Now.. do i remove the bolts that hold the carb to the boot , or the boot from the head ?

and then how the hell does it come out without removing my rear fanders? it's gonna be a tight squeeze?

and anything else i should be aware of ?

please and thank you !

you remove the bolts that go from the carb to the boot, and to get the carb out you have to remove the air box assembly its like 3 or 4 bolts..pull it out and then pull the carb bacl and out the place where the air box was :) hope this helps :D

This may not work with the 84, but on my 83 I take the bolts out of the head leaving the intake on and pull it out leaving the air box alone.

I see what your doing, boring the carb from the bigred to see if the 82 will run if it runs then you know it's worth putting some cash into...Make sure the timing is correct too most of the time when you see bikes that don't run etc for sale and stuff it's usually a simple fix just people get frusterated quick..

actually. i'm removing the carb from the big red to clean it out, cuz it's still fouling the plug.. i put a brand new one in, went for 1 ride and it's fuxxored again and won't start.

the plug is black.. so it's either a valve problem or a carb problem.

cleaning the carb should be fairly easy, so i'm starting wiith that for now !

gotta get the red going.. just gotta.
