I'm trying to find a CR 125 motor to put in my '85 200x anyone ever tried it? Any info would help. Also I'm trying to sell the old motor and need to know if an '85 200x motor will fit in an '82 XR 200. Thanks for any help.

no...cr125 engine does not fit in a 185 frame
a nicholson frame is a custom chromoly frame and was made to fit the 185 and a few other engines....this one pictured was made to fit a 1979 cr125

Kasey I remember reading that post, got everyone excited about an oldschool racer that you had discovered, can't remember seeing pics though. Did you post them on .org as well cause they still would be there. Hope to see pics soon.
Guys where theres a cutting torch and welder there is a way to fit a nice CR125 engine into a 200X. Go for it and keep us informed on what you decide to do. :beer
you mean a cr125...hase more power than a 200x? i know its a 2 stroke..but?

2-stroks have a lot of power and a cr125 engine would be good for racing in a 125 class, which is probably what the engine was in the nicholson for
yes i relize that but why take one now and put it in your 200x?? your not racein in a 125 class..as there is none these days :P

A CR powered 200X would beat a stock 200X any day. I'd love to have one of these machines, would be the ultimate short course bike, lots of high revs in a tight little package that you could jump and slide around so easily. I hear claims that the CR powerd X will be par with stock 250R's.
wow biggreen now thats what i was looking to hear....hehe..ill have to find an old 200x rolling chassie..i think i know where i can get a old cr 125 motor...heheheheh

How do they run?
I too would love to add one of these to my stable.

I want one too.. and have really been thinking about it..
But I have a question .. would it be worth doing it with a air-cooled 125 engine?
also if i could fit a 81-84 250r engine in a 200x frame or a liquid 125 which would give the better power .. well more poweR?

i was thinking about this i think it might be easy enough to just convert a CR YZ etc... to a trike. an older one would have a steel frame so welding to it to modify it to accept a trike or quad rear end wouldnt be a problem mount up a trike front end and some fenders and you'd have an ATC125R or a YTZ125.

Hey trikekid, I was thinking the same thing. I would like to see a Tri-Z with a yz 80 motor in it. That way, you would have the killer suspension, and be able to race the 80 cc class.

I think a 200X would be a better chassis to accept a YZ/CR/KX 80/85 since its smaller and lighter.
hell why dont i just take one and make my own crommolly frame for it...hehe

The 81-84 250r Motor will not fit in the 200X its too big I tried it before I decided to go to the CR 125 motor.

so ah do you have a 125 powered 200x? .....
EDIT: ... umm aint a 250r roller lighter than a 200x? ... I thought i seen a 200x was like 10 pounds heavier than a 250r

how hard would it be to fit a dirbike frame with an axle from a 3 or 4 wheeler?
I ask becuase I can get a low hour 125 honds dirtbike like a 99 for cheep and would buy it if I could somehow set it up for three wheels.

the cr125 watercooled make more power yes the x is alittle heaver i hear but that could be the 4 stroke motor. slappin a 125 in it would make it super light but it wouldnt have the suspension of a R i say take a air cooled R and turn it into a atc125R

But it would be much more fun in a little X IMO. I'd love to have an 87 X set up with a new age CR 125 motor. That would be super sexy.

Thats an awsome idea, domination over all the little racers with a fullsize long travel chasis. Great idea.

I'm looking to build one. I was going to put my '82 R engine in my 200X before I decided to put the CR 125 motor in. The air cooled motor was too big for the frame. Still looking for an afordable CR 125 motor though.
