Ok, I had both at the same time. The SX is lighter and sportyer looking and handeling. The Big Red is noticeably heavier. The SX is a little faster for sure. However the Big Red is far more comfortable. If your on a long ride or rough ride the Big Red is more comfortable. Jumping on the SX seems to tweak the forks if you do it high enough and hard enough. The Big Red doesnt have this problem. It all comes down to what your preference is. The Big Red will go anywhere the SX will go and then some. It has much larger tires and more ground clearance. I love the SX, but I prefer my Big Red. I always thought I wouldnt like a Big Red due to there size and weight. Having both proved that wrong. I sold the SX. LOL. I love my Big Red. Im 6'3" and 280. Im just a little more spread out and balanced on the Big Red. You definately cant flick the rear around quite as easy on the SX, but thats a trade off I can live with. :D

The reverse is fine. It never slips out or anything and is hell powerful, just like 1st gear on the forward ratio....ive often used reverse to tow people out backwards, ive even pulled out a shrub going backwards cause forward access was impossible. Ive never ridden a 250sx but i know the bigred is nice and comfy and has plenty enough grunt, could use a 6th gear but. It is a mud rig and would probably go alright on trails too.

250sx all the way I have 2 of them and ride them every day. They wont die. They will do 55mph on a flat surface or at least mine will. They are awesome on trails, and the reverse is great infact you can burnout with it.

Its about time someone didnt inflate the real speed of their trike, 55 MPH is EXACTLY what mine does too, flat surface-top speed.

ES=working trike, probably best working trike you can get
SX=sport/utility (more sport though) go with an SX

I have three 86 sx's, and they are great trikes. I have not ridden the es. The reverse on all three of my sx's workes great. I think that is because of the shaft drive
