What is a normal price range for having a 3wheeler frame powdercoated? My local yamaha shop wants $220. Is that to much? Were else could i look? at like paint shops? I look in the phone book for powdercoating but found nothing.

Id say 220 buks is WAYYYY to much. I had my 250es frame swinger and heaps of other parts coated for about $400 Aus. I thought that was pretty good and it looks awesome and is tough as nails. I say you research a little more and find a better price.

$100 is dirt cheap. Powdercoating is well worth the money. After having it done myself, you couldn't get me to paint a frame. I had a trx frame done and I think it was $200. Well worth it. I didn't have a dealer do it though, it was a powdercoating shop. Do a search in the online yellow pages you might find someone near you like this.

powdercoating is worth every cent! Thats a lot, but you would be a lot happier then paint. Paint wont last, or look as good as powdercoat. Around here, a 3 or 4 wheeler frame, and all parts will run about $175

In the pic with the hubs on, they are painted. I wish I would of powdered them also, but was lazy at the time.

You couldnt pay me enough to paint a metal piece again... powdercoating is the only way to go.. period.

I totaly agree CHAINSAW!
I looked up what I did to that quad and the $200 included frame, swinger, headstay, and motor mounts. They're probably out sourcing the work and adding on something for them selves. Look around, you can do better.

there is a shop buy me that does powder coating, around 100 bucks for a frame. And they also do the blasting, But that's what I'm worried about, that they won't do a good job blasting and powder coat over rust. And then five years or so down the road, I end up with a real mess. If I have it blasted, and then I prime and paint it myself, then I will know what I have.

I just painted the cases, but yes, you can powdercoat them with no problems.

do you think its worth it to power coat the cases too or will paint hold up if you sand em down or blast em?

It is worth it, but if its an old case, like on most 3 wheelers, its hard to get them clean enough. You can blast them, but oil has a tendency to soak into the aluminum, and may really screw up a good powder job. Paint always rubs off, but with powder, you can rub your boots on it all day long, and its not gonna come off.
