I am now the proud  owner of 4 tigers :D and need lots of info. I have the famous tiger 80, a tiger 200, and two tiger 250's. it is awesome to have such machines but as with most of my projects they are in terrible shape.

the 80 is the best but it is missing the engine. i have been looking for an engine but so far none has been found.

the 200 is in fair shape and would be ridable with an engine rebuild. it still needs new fork tubes and brakes.

the 250's have enough parts to make 1 good bike and a beater riding bike.

i do not have a single radiator shorud. I doubt i ever find one

:(

i need to know engine part suppliers, fork manufactures, brake manufactures, and lots of pictures!!!!!!!! I will be posting pics as i go through each of them to help others in the future. I think i will post an engine rebuild tech article first and then get onto the rest of it.

who knows they are in fair shape. most of it is just sanding and painting. the fork tubes are going to be the hardest part

Engines, any ATK or Rotax engined powered machine dealer can get any part.

Brakes, Brembo if I remember correctly

Marzocchi Shocks

Rear Sprockets - 84/85 tecate

Thats all I remember...

Hey man, I know you will prolly hate being hit up for parts that you just got, but I really need a radiatior. I have a 250 Tiger in great shape except for the rad. If you have an extra one for sale, that will put another Tiger back on the road.

Thanks.

the tiger 80 is a 80cc 2 stroke racer.

i only have three radiators for 4 bikes right now. i would call fliudyne and heave them nuild me a radiator. it should not be too expensive.

If you will give some info on this place that builds rads. that would be great. I have good tanks, could they build onto those tanks so it would look original?

the rear fenders are not 86-87 kxt low profile rear fenders.they are a tiger design fender and not a copy of anything.you may be thinking of the 84-85 kxt low profile which is one the cagiva.

Why woundn't you find a cr 80 or yz 80 motor to drop in the little Tiger? No, it wouldn't be the original motor, but pretty close. I don't think it would require too much frame hacking. I would just like to see it in action. :D

No,No,No do not hack it up. It's worth way more with original engine. One has to pop up sooner or later.

1. In its day there was no comparison to the 80cc tiger except for custom home made racers. Think about it, honda had the ATC70, Yamaha had a tri zinger with like 1 inch of front suspension, and Suzuki had a 50cc trike with no suspension. Now compare those bikes to a liquid cooled fully suspended racing mini class three wheeler. are you getting the picture!

2. I think the rear fenders of the 250 tigers are copys or replicas of the 84/5 T3 low profile fenders rather than the 86/87 T3 fenders. the 86 design was a little later in the game.

I was told that the fenders are off the 84/85 T-3 (low Profile)

3tigers
10-06-2004, 04:10 PM
the rear fenders are NOT 84-85 t-3 low profile.this is how rumors get started.they are an original tiger design.think about it,the tigers kick on the left side and the t-3 kicks on the right.so how could it be a maier low profile 84-85 copy.

Basket,
I Have owned and do own a few three-wheelers and I have to agree with you. I would love to own a Tiger but, Why own a wheeler that you can't get parts for? If I owned one in running condition I woudl be afraid I would scratch it. I know that some guys say "Ride it like you stole if" , easy to say when you don't have $2000+ into it and you don't have to try to find none exhistant parts.:wondering
Do you have any pictures of the 80 anymore? It would be cool just to see some pics.

Most parts are very easy to get. There are maybe 10 or 12 Tiger only parts. The fenders are now all reproduced in fiberglass, so they are easy enough to get and most of the other parts are off the shelf aftermarket made parts. They are easier to redo than any of the Big 3 restores except for the fenders.

Big Schott, come on down to MD and go for a ride. I have a 250 and a 500 you can take a ride on. Maybe I'll have the other 250 going someday too. The only deal with the 500 is that it is a cold natured pig to start. Hard to get use to the left foot kicker too.
