82 yt175 still having some problems

Well, I finally got it started and changed my leaking intake boot after doing the top end. It starts once, then I shut it down and try to start it again...no go. Pull the plug and its wet and oily. Let it sit for awhile put in a new plug and she starts again. Any ideas? Sure could use some help quick...I really would like to take it hunting with me tommorrow.

It is wet and oily because it is running rich. You will have to re-jet the carb. for it to run right.

Sorry for the ignorance but how do you rejet the carb?

Let me ask this, does it have a performance pipe or airfilter? With that being said, you take the carb off, flip it upside down and take the float bowl off. It will be a little brass thing that screws in. You swap it out for a different jet. You would have to go to a dealer to get a jet kit. Or, if you have the factory parts, put them factory parts back on and not have to re-jet.
