i have a wiring harness without the coil, rectifier, and handlebar switch for an 84 225DX, if you just wanted to replace the whole thing

yep,,, it's working plk. (your posting)

i don't have any real good input on that trike (no manual) so can't comment.
i am sure you have all the basics covered, battery up to snuff, terminals good shape, battery to frame ground intact.
maybe if you have multi-meter, get it running and pull off the positive lead and see what the alternater output back to the battery is in volts. i would think it should be over 12 volts at a little higher then a idle.
you can do alot with a multi-meter and they are cheap as far as what you can find out with one (10 - 14 dollars )
guesse i had a little more to say then i thought,,, good luck.

how far do the wiresgo up to the front of the trike? just the connectors, or all the way up to the switches and stuff?

there is no headlight/kill switch, or coil, or rectifier, but everything else is there, (cdi, wires, connecters and everything), the ends are uncut and its in good shape

yup, plug it into your engine, plug it into your coil, plug it into your handlebar switch, plug it into your rectifier, take off the rest of your wiring, and there you go, although like you said, you would have to do another wire for the reverse
