So sad to see all these 3 wheelers are awaiting a slow and painful death never to be ridden again. This is that Inland Empire ATV place in California. They buy old trikes out of the recycler and then tear them apart to sell the pieces. So sad. I see a Tri-Z back there, a bunch of 200x's, a few 250R's and a nice 350X up front. This depresses me.

If this is the same place I emailed then a few times a year ago and they never responded. They must get them cheap to invest the time in to tearing them down and shipping the parts.

I wouldn't buy any parts from them now, Mike left. I used to and they had good prices, last time I called they wanted $400 for a 86 200x head, new is $168(and disconitinued). I have to say when Mike was there he couldn't get a 86 200x axle and he found a nos durablue +4 for the same as he wanted for a used one, also I had a shipment lost of tecate parts, he handled this and got me replacements parts with-in 2 weeks.

They seem to only get the bigger trikes(i.e. 350X's,250R's,200X's,Tri-Z's and so on.) It is sad to see a nice running trike parted just for a few extra dollars. I say stock up on parts while there stilll around!

yes, stock up, while you can get them cheap, in 5-6 years they are gonna cost a forutune(look at the prices of trikes). I would say buy a few bikes that the motors were taken out of and the rest was left to sit, you would be set for chassis parts and I'm sure they won't want much for the rest of the bike. ALot guys still use 250r's so I don't think 86-89 axles, carriers, swingarms, bearings, calipers, are gonna be a problem to find in the next 10 years. Before 2002 just about every racer used a 250r motor, aftermarket chassis, 250r calipers, rear end, and such. I plan on buying another parts bike.

thats not cool. you guys over there have enough trikes to just get em and part em out by the hundreds and here in australia they are so uncommon that guys can charge $1300 for a crappy 1980 110 that needs pretty much everything except a seat.

I want to ride trikes for the rest of my life but I don't have the space and money to just buy parts bikes and store them till I need them. I'm just going to try and take care of mine the best I can, but when they do blow up and I can't get aftermarket or OEM parts, then I guess I'll just pay more for used ones on ebay.

You guys are right about the number of trikes in California. I live here and in the recycler there is always a bunch or trikes, some cherry and some for parts but there is a good supply. That won't last forever though becasue as you can see that place Inland ATV which is aobut an hour from my house is buying them all up to part out. In a way I guess its a good thing for you guys casue there are allot (dispropoartional amount) of trikes around in CA so if they brake them down it puts parts out there avaibable to you guys in places like Canada and Australia.

I do understand your point about parting out a perfectly good trike, but think about it a minute, where do you think most of the parts you need for your trike come from. If it wernt for people parting out trikes we would be up the creek without the proverbial paddle. Even tho they are parting out one trike they are helping others restore many. JMO

Yeah I agree. I guess I just got a little depressed becasue I saw that photo of all those trikes waiting to get slaughtered. Seeing it is the hard part. Its like we eat chciken and steak all the time and don't think about picturing the healthy animal that was enjoying life just prior to be coming dinner for us. Anyways, enough harsh thoughts. The answer is if you have a perfectly good trike don't tear it down just for a few extra bucks, but if your trike and is beyond repair and inoperable to a point it that just doesn't make sense to bring it back, then sacrafice it. I should have scaraficed my 200X but I was too attached to do such a thing. I enned up rebuilding the entire engine and buying all new plastic, tires and many other things. I love it now but financially my restoration didn't make sense.

it is the same in new zealand no one has seen them we took a tri-z to a motor bike park (all sand dunes and sand tracks) in the week end and the ar*eho*es on their golf carts wanted to know what that piece os S**T was I told them to wait and see and after I warm it up then they can tell me if it is a piece of trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro. They cirtainly changed their tune after I cleaned them up in straight lines and on the tracks.

That pic and the words "Will be parting out those 200x's and 350x's" literally made me sick, i actually vomited. Those are great trikes yet. Bastards

that's how much they go for on ebay. good luck finding a good rear caliper for a 200x for less than that!
