what would cause my lower crank bearing to fall apart?

just wondering what caused my lower crank bearing to fall apart?

You mean the big end connecting rod bearing?? They just plain die, just like main bearings. Usually because people don't mind putting in top ends but are terified of "splitting cases". Usually happens right after you rebuild the top end too.
