Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has tried the plastic replacement tanks and do they look good once you get the decals on them?

Any pics of one on your trike?

Do they hold up as good as the metal?

Thanks

the only one i ever had i broke in 5 minutes at the badlands.
about cost me the whole trike ,,, gas leaking all over and all.
i hadn't ever had the sx out of the back yard so when i got it off the trailer i shot down the smooth part and headed right for the rougher riding area and it just simply didn't take the jarring around. all the rubber bumpers were in place too ,,, it just didn't hold up for me.

That's enough info right there to make me not buy one! It has to be able to handle some heavy duty riding!

there has got to be some fellow trikers running plastic tanks having better luck ,,, ???

I have a plastic tank on my '87 big red that looks great and is very durable. I think there are 2 different kinds: a good one and a cheaper one. The good one is shaped exactly like the stock metal tank(mine). If you are going to put decals on the tank, do it before you put the tank on the bike and definitely before you put fuel in the tank or the decals will bubble up due to the plastic tank being porous once gas is in it.
