Anyone here have any idea of how many horsepower a 350X (stock) puts out??? I was thinking that the 250R was 38 or 39, just wondering about comparison.

Thanks

Tim

I think the 350X is like 32hp is what I've heard, but I'm really not sure. Even though thats close to the R, the R is lighter. Its the HP to weight ratio thats key, including the rider's weight.

vartiak15 - the 200s has a claimed 14HP

The maximum horsepower for a ATC350X is 27PS/7000 rpm
maximum torque 21.70 ft-lb/6,000 rpm
stock compression ratio 8.5:1
stock displacement 350.3 cc
stock main jet #138 :)

I might add that all of the above is from the owners manual. i.e. directly from Honda.

Am I missing something here?
What does "PS" stand for?
I've heard of "Brake Horsepower" for the Brits and "Newton-somethings" in another part of the world but PS?

Hmmm.....PS, A japanese derivative of HP?

Could there be a conversion involved....like going from SAE to NET HP?

Am I thinking too much? :D

I thought the HP on a 200S is 12? Anyways thats a different thread. I've heard so many different HP ratings for the 350X.

You agree on 27HP then Wickedfinger?

I agree with 27 HP....just curious if the 27PS actually stands for U.S. HP rating?
Not to insult any of the 250R guys....LOVE those trikes!....
BUT isn't 38/39 hp a bit on the high side?
That's a LOT of HP for those old tech motors.

I know the ATC R motor are more high tuned then the TRX's motor! As for horses i heard 36 for the ATC-R.

85-86 250r should be about 38-39 @ 8300rpm

38.8hp to be exact. From what I've dredged up on the net and from mags, the ATC200S only had 10/11 hp, believe it or not, the ATC185s has the same rating but its torque is less. The first generation ATC200Xs have 12hp while the second gen. big valve motor has 14. The ATC70 has 3.5hp, the ATC90's had 7hp, ATC110s 8hp and the first gen, horizontal motored ATC125m 8.5hp. (I do not know what the second gen upright motors rating is). I have never come across ratings for the ATC250ES or BigRed motors. By contrast the TRX250X has 15.6hp and the TRX300EX 17hp.

the early big reds would be the same as the 200s i would imagine, same motor, just different tranny. unless the added friction of the sub tranny would make that much of a difference.

27 HP for a 350X is lower then I expected,I thought the 200S had 12hp?I don't want to hi-jack this thread but I was just wondering how much better a 350x engine works then a 200X engine?( i have never ridden a 350x before)is the difference amazing?(I know that it would be faster 16 hp vs 27hp and 350cc vs 192cc)

actually its a full 350ccs... four valves, dual exhaust port, and a substantially larger carburetor.

nobody knows what the horsepower of a 250sx is? i'd guess like almost 15 at 7000 rpm, it really doesn't rev much higher

By contrast the TRX250X has 15.6hp and the TRX300EX 17hp.

WHEW!
No wonder folks like to swap in the 350X motor into TRX250X and TRX300EX frames! JEEZ!
I didn't realize how little HP the 300EX has....and it weighs over 55 lbs. MORE than an ATC350X? WOW.

350X= 27HP and 320 lbs.
300EX= 17HP and 375 lbs.

Learn something new everyday!
Thanks! :D

I might add that all of the above is from the owners manual. i.e. directly from Honda.

Wickedfinger was right, that's were I got my info from. The truth is that the dyno's I've seen says the 350X isn't that hot. In the 350X dyno it had a Cobra exhaust (no they don't help much) and it maxed at 22.3hp @ 6300rpm. The 300ex dynos I've seen says that it makes 18.2hp @ 6600rpm.

Is it possible that you can loose that much to the rear? Was honda saying what it was directly off of the motor?

According the above info this would be true:

350x motor (350.4cc)
makes .0636hp per cc

300ex motor (281.7cc)
makes .0646hp per cc

This would mean that the 300ex motor is more efficent.

This was just a little study done from independant dyno results. I am in no way saying that this is what it is 100%.

If they were correct this is what the power to weight ratios would be:

350x @ 22.3hp and 320 lbs would be
14.35:1

300ex @ 18.2hp and 377lbs would be
20.71:1

(just for fun also from dynos)
400ex @ 24hp and 374.7lbs would be
15.61:1

Now this would mean, if these specs were correct, the 350x would still have no problem smoking the 300ex even though the newer 300ex was more efficent.

(The fun part)
In my experience it hasn't been a slautering when it comes to beating the 400ex with a 350x. If fact with the couple little mods I did to my 400ex it took a couple 350x's at trikefest last year. If the 350x was 27hp the power to weight ratio would be 11.85:1. If that was true you would have to get a 400ex up to 31.6hp just to be equal and that sounds a little high. The point is, now that I have put some thought into this, is that it just doesn't make sence to say the 350x makes 27hp.

I have the "certificate of origin" for the Showgirl... It's at home right now, but agree it said 27 or 28 HP with a weight of 320lbs for a 85 350X.

My computer/modem got fried when I was in the mountains last week! Errrrrrrr

A certificate of origin won't tell you exactly what your machine is doing. It only tells you what the manufacturer wants to say.

A 350X shouldn't even be compared to a 200X! Two totally different machines.

I have both and my 200X has mods and the torque delivery on the 350X is way stonger. You can feel the 350X in your stomach when you accelerate in any gear. I don't get that with my 200X. I'm not dogging the 200X though. Its a good all around trike that is a good value becasue of the low cost to buy one and the abundance of parts avaialbe out there.

Sorry this post was on horsepwoer not a trike comparison.
I agree that the 350X would be in the low 20's on hp's,
