MY 225DXL IS MAKING A KNOCKING OR RATTLING SOUND. I DONT KNOW WHERE ITS COMING FROM. INSTEAD OF JUST FIXING THIS PROBLEM, I WAS THINKING OF REBUILDING THE ENTIRE ENGINE TO SAVE HEADACHES DOWN THE ROAD. ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS MIGHT COST(BALL PARK) AND IF THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE FROM YAMAHA? ANY THOUGHTS AND HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS!

Are you doing just the top end or the whole thing??? Almost every part is still available from yamaha, many in stock too.... The motor is very similar to the beartrackers... They use many of the same parts... Carb parts are expensive, i paid $30 for a float valve and seat at the dealer.....
Top end, depending on if you get a yamaha or a wiseco, yamaha or aftermarket company gaskets, and if you decide to do valves, may cost 200+

I GUESS I SHOULD DO OVER THE WHOLE ENGINE WHILE I'M AT IT. I GOT A PRICE ON A NEW CARB AWHILE BACK. I THINK IT WAS AROUND $130. THANKS FOR THE INPUT SEAN 8231!
mine does that sound. you need to adjust the clearance between the valve and the rocker arm

Let us know how you make out. I can probably give you the correct clearances if you need them.
