my tri-moto would not stop so i went and got some new brakes how big should they be. ones i have are 1 inch in diamiter

Obviously they should be the same as the ones you took off......DUH!!!

Did you just "Eyeball" some and figure they would work???? What bike are we talking about???? Go here http://www.yamaha-motor.com/ Get your part number and then go get your brakes.....
