Got the 86 T-3 back together. All seems good except the carb. I hate that @#$$##$ Mikuni!!!! I have a flat slide 86 250r stock carb. Will it be enough carb to feed a stock 86 T-3? Anybody ever tried this?
Thanks,
Whiteman

the real problem is will it fit on the manifold?

they should both be 36mm's, I think, not 100% on that. Just find out what the jetting should be for your t-3, then swapp out those new jets, needles, and throttle valve, with the ones in the R carb, well I dont know actually, are the 250r carbs, and the t-3 carbs both mikuni's stock, if so, then just swapp jets, if they are the same mm that is.

If I am correct the 85-86 R and tecate both had 36MM carbs and the tri-Z had the smaller 34MM.

The tecate and tri z came stock with a mikuni carb. The 250r came with a Keihn. The tecate and 250r had a 34mm carb stock, while the Tri-Z had the smaller 32mm carb.

It can be done but you are going to have to change a variety of jets doing it. The 86 250r came with a Keihin PJ34. I have two 87 T-3's that have Klemm engine kits with Keihin PJ38's which is a carb that Keihin doesn't make anymore but you can find them on ebay usually. The jetting we have is 6.0 slide, DEF needle, 55 slow, 180 main. This jetting might work on the PJ34.
