pull starter wont fit

I bought a pull starter for a 200es big red 84,the holes line up but the center on the recoil(pull starter)is a little to big,can i change the gear thats bolted on the motor.the pull starter is black the round center peice is bronze or brownish in color.Honda is writen in silver and made in japan is curved on the bottom.The guy said it would fit,anybody know what i need to make it work on my big red.I am clue less.Any help would de great. thanks ,svo58

It will be totally impossible to help without know exactly what you bought. There are quite a few different pull starters. If you can post a few pictures of the pullstarter you bought ( front , back, side ), then we should be able to help.
