ya dremel's work awsome for polishing. I just hope your not in a hurry. But if you buy a dremel get a corded one if not it will take forever. you will have to charge it every couple hours.

Do you have a big lots? Check harbor freight. Both have generic dremels for sale and you can use standard dremel bits with them. I purchased one from big lots and have used it quite a bit and its still running fine and its been two years now...I paid $20 for it. I believe harbor freight sells the same one for either $14 or $20 can't recall. If you look around you can find many accessories but it takes some effort to find accessories that use a 1/8" shank.... eastwood company offers a few polish and grinding accessories for the dremel tools. Good luck

Well mine goes about as quick as a person would want it too. I have a dremel tool that I used to use, it sits on the shelf as I use this generic one. As far as speed, there isn't any difference, between the one I purchased and the dremel...its fully adjustable (speed) just like the dremel. Who knows?

haha...no, I think I will keep it.

Here are a couple options at www.harborfreight.com

item # 41695 - 2HEB 12v rotary tool (generic dremel) $9.99

or

item # 44141 - 1HEH electric die grinder 1/4" collet $39.99

item # 43060 - 2VGA electric speed controller $12.99

The first one is a generic dremel with 1/8" collet, accessories not so easy to find but they are out there.

Then second is a die grinder with a 1/4" collet, many accessories easily found, it however would need the electric speed controller, as it only has one speed but you plug it into the controller then you have full control over the speed. I knew a fella that used this die grinder/controller setup to port his 5.0 cylinder heads and he seemed to like it, I couldn't get him to part with it. So it should have no problems polishing something. Who knows? Good luck

hey vartiak ,,, i have one of those die grinders i don't ever use. it is 20k r.p.m. + heavy duty. like liatv said ,,, if you want to controll the speed you'll need one of those controller gismo's.

10 bucks shipped. it has the 1/8th. inch collet

P.M. me your address if interested ,,,,

I like using the dremel for polishing, however i find that a sandblaster and some hand sanding works the best. The dremel if you hold it in one certain spot for longer then the other spots you get little divits, so i grew fond of the sandblaster i bought at fleet for 30.00. Maybe i dont have the right touch but it does go alot quicker with sandblasting, so i found

i also prefere too sandblast and then i use a buffing wheel and buffing compound.
it would take a month of sundays to polish up a motor i would think with a dremal ,,,, but i can see the advantage of being able to do small parts in more detail with a dremal tool .
