View Full Version : how long should u break in 83' 200x clutch plates???

i own an 83' 200x and i was wondering how long i should "put-put" around on my new clutch plates before i can actually start riding hard on them?

0.0 hrs. This is not required. If it is, I have never done so and never noticed any premature clutch wear.

You should break them in the same amount of time as you would a set of tires, a coil ( That one was for TimSr ), or a headlight bulb. lol, No break-in time is required.

i have put 2 sets of clutch plaes in and they worked fine at first then they all of the sudden went out like before.....so i dunno what the problem is

It's kind of a touchy subject, and some say it dont matter, but I only use Honda 4 stroke oil.

no..all i have around here is like kawasaki, suzuki, and a couple of repair shops

Any one of those shops should have 4 stroke oil that would work good

Are you soaking the clutches in oil before you put them in? I always let mine soak in oil overnight.

Check the clutch freeplay as well. If it's too tight, the disks will just slip and burn up.

Are you replacing the springs when you put in new plates? If not, that may be why the clutch does not work for long.

I am soaking the clutch plates and i put new springs in too.........but i havn't checked the free play
