i have gotton ahold of a number plate off of a 83 84 250R and it was just zip tied to the front of the forks and i was wondering what the deal is with it its got no mounts on the back nothing looks broke and the deal is with it !
only thing it says on it is molded by prestonpetty/ J.T racing ?!
what is the deal here i can get pics soon
any one got any insite?
Is it a plastic frame with a plastic screen mesh in the middle? If so it's old. I'd say it is anyway since it says "Preston Petty" and J.T. on it.
There are a couple old school plates that didn't use screens. post a pic.

its supposed to be held with zip ties. most old bikes had them that way and its the standard mount if you convert from a head light. Just run it its old school

I don't know much about Preston Petty. They are an old aftermarket company. I've never seen a plate quite like that one. I have had plastic numbers for screen plates off and on over the years and most were made by Preston Petty. The numbers are thick plastic and have posts on the back that press through the screen. O'Neal and Maier also made numbers the ones I've had had to be drilled and then bolted on.
Of course, J.T. Racing was a large aftermarket and riding gear/apparel company. I still have a Kawasaki green J.T. "Front Flex" chest protector. They made helmets (had a really cool looking open face model). Closed face was cool too. J.T. was a big at one time. I don't know if they are still around or not.
