View Full Version : 1982 200 plug problem
I have a 1982 200 that eats spark plugs. The plugs are never fouled, they just stop working. The engine runs fine when a new plug is in, although it runs a little rich at idle. The carb has been taken down and cleaned numerous times, and the float adjusted. The plug usually lasts only a day or so before they go out. They seem to be shorting out or something. Can someone offer any suggestions?

Adjust the valves. I had the same problem on my 200es when I bought it.

do you have any pics or can you describe what the plug looks like?could be the valves or the timing.
The plug looks like new. It doesn't have any carbon build up and you can smell the gas on it. If the bike doesn't start with after cranking 5-10 times, I know the plug is dead and I'll put a new plug in and it will start up right away and it will run fine until that plug goes out.

Have you ever tried one of your "dead" plugs a day or two later?
Yeah, they don't produce any spark at all.
