I ported the cylinder today, had my boss help with the big stuff. I did it just like the "wrench report" I even have a somewhat similar air filter setup. The only thing left is to cut the head.

Now I have a ported and polished 85 Tri-Z with a DG pipe, answer silencer, uni filter, boyseen reeds, and a Mikuni TM38 flatslide. I am thinking this thing is gonna tear ass pretty good.

I think the next thing is suspension. Front forks could use some attention. I am gonna get some pics up real soon.

I haven't cleaned the bike all the way for a while. I t still has Haspin mud on it. Man I don't know what they put in their mud down but that crap wont come off

Hey YTZ250N,

Since the 84 Tecate is history, I have a 38mm flatslide laying around now. what intake boot do I need to get this thing on my Z? I have a stock carb now and it's tuned spot on for my engine, bill's pipe, and CT silencer and open air filter. (I almost hate to change) I have a clamp on UNI filter for the Z carb. which UNI did you get for the 38mm flat slide? What jetting are you running in the 38mm?

Thanks!

the TM carb fit in the original boot. Just took a little strong arming. I have the oem style uni filter and the only problem I had was with the thinner carb it moved the whole air tract forward so it didn't stay together with everything the way it is supposed to be.

So I took an extra airbox and cut just the bottom off and put it in like a tray and the uni filter just sits on top of it. that works real good now. I had a picture up here somewhere.

I have to look again at the jetting but the main I think is a 350 with a 55 pilot. the airscrew seemed to get real touchy like that.

I don't know what needle or nozzle jet is in it I have to check it out. It still runs real fat but not so much it runs crappy it runs good. I am going to have to start over with the jetting when I put my worked cylinder on though.

My boss gave me a good idea If you are not sure if the jetting is good, get a B9EG plug it has a really small eletrode that will burn up and melt before the piston does, and its easy to see what is happening to the plug whether the electrode looks right. My boss said you should see a small amount of peppering, like the edges of the electrode might get rounded a little but not melted.
