I have an 1985 200X and the oil pump went out and fried the piston, rings& crankshaft>
I also have an 1983 XR200 bottom end...
can i mount an Xr200 bottom end to an 200X top end?
I was also wondering, would the 6-speed gearbox from the XR work in the 200X frame? Will it be able to pull the higher gears?
the Xr has 13/47 and my 200X has 13/40 gearing
I don't know if the XR motor can handle the smaller rear sprocket in the trike frame..........Thanks :TrikesOwn

you already posted on this topic...http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=24175
and as for the gearing, just go 13/40. xr front sprocket and 200x rear. the engine will be able to handle it

First of all the dirtbike that this XR motor came from most likely had a larger diameter rear tire than your 200X which partially explains the 13/47 vs 13/40 sprocket combination. That isn't the biggest issue. You need to research the "Internal" gear ratios as the dirtbike motor will probably have different ratios than the ATV motor. If this is the case then the final drive gear ratio (sprockets) will likely need to be different than either one of your available combinations.

I would put it together and see where it's running at. Then make adjustments from there. I have heard of people doing the swap you are doing and it works. If your oil pump went I would be checking the cylinder head, cam and rockers for damage real carefully. Are you gonna get a brand new oil pump from Honda? or use a spare one?

I was going to use the XR bottom end and oil pump....
