I know there are a few but lately I'm hearing of more and more. I have an 85 that I've been trying to put together for quite a while now and I'm getting close to the end. Pics to come when its finished. Right now I'm trying to track down an extended swinger and number plate. So for the rest of you post up your 84-85 Kawasaki Tecate's and let everyone know you own one.

Here is my 1984. I wonder what the 86-87's would look like if they were red or the 85's for that matter. :Bounce

A red 86/86 would be pretty sweet with some blue rad fins and seat cover. I believe you could get red 85's.

hey aaakowalski where did you buy your blue seat cover and fork boots? they look sweet.

and thanks also for showing me what my spidertracs will look like mounted on my tecate.

I just picked up a nice stock 85 a month or so ago. It has beat everything it has gone up against so far...(400ex, suzuki 400 quad, blaster, 85 R, 85 350x, Pilot...)

New holeshots and an Uni filter is all that has been done to this trike.

I'll post some pics if someone will resize them for me

Anybody out there have a thumb throttle for the 85? I would like to replace the twisty for a thumb throttle on my trike.

Here's a couple of my favorite pics of my 84 from a few years back. but sadly all I have left is a bare frame. When this was taken, it ran awesome and handled great with the 18" tires, westcoast swingarm and extended axle. Not the best looking it's every been. It was sure nice looking when it had aaakowalski's plastic on it! :Bounce

speaking of that, what did you do to that Tank! :p

Is there any certain model Honda throttle that works best(i.e. 250R, 350x, 250sx...)

Did you use the stock kaw cable, the Honda cable or some other cable?

Thanks

Yep, Jeb, your tecate looked real nice. I still got your fenders and blue seat that I bought off you a long while back, which are on my 84 Tecate. They looked real nice. I painted the fenders green, to match my tank for some dumb reason. After I rolled it ice racing this winter, the fenders got a little cracked up, and a lot of the paint flaked off, which made me mad. O well, what can ya do? Anyways, the tecate is currently sitting in my shed, I blew the piston, broke a ring, and destroyed the cylinder walls. OUCH! Well, I hope to have it running in a few months here, after it gets a new topend. Sorry guys, no current pics at the moment. I'll get some when I get it looking good.

Heres my 84. It has Jebs old extended axel and swingarm. Also has Jebs fork guards, front fender, and brake line on it. Thanks man, my tecate just wouldnt be the machine it is today if you had not decided to sell some parts.

Man, your KXT gets better looking every time I see it!

Actually the swingarm you got had never been on a trike. It was still new. The west coast on my red one in the pics earlier in this thread went to another guy. I had it recently (before I sold it) bead blasted and powder coated it bright white along with the carrier and put modern WestCoast stickers on it. The axle is the same.

There's been a time or two I wish I still had both! But knowing all those parts went on excellent and running Tecates like aaakowalski's and your's let's me know they went to great homes! With all that nice red plastic I sold aaakowalski, the NOS westcoast swingarm, and the polished engine i had I could have had a red 84 to rival Ange's! I think all I have left of mine is a half sand blasted bare frame, a few bolts and small items, and the 38mm Mikuni Flatslide carb that was on it.

I will always love the 84/85 KXT-250!

Come on y'all thats not everybody! I know more of you have 84/84 Tecates so get your pics up!

Greenlightning that looks awsome, what colour did you use on the tank? Anybody know where I can get a Tank Cover for my 85?

Thanks BigGreen. It is a custom color I mixed myself. i have many different colors in dupont basecoat. I started with a color similar to kawasaki green and mixed in yellow. I think its a 4:1 mix. its not exact but it came out real close.

I got my Motor and Rear brake system back today, so I will be riding mine In about a week. Got to finish it off nice with some Paint for the motor, and cut the front fender. If this wrks here is an old pic of my Trike during build. I have a PRM Grab bar and the Hi Flite seat cover is on now. Engine is painted and Powdercoated. I allso got a Kenda Front tire, and I have access to a machine that cuts Vinyl. So I'm gonna put a flame graphics kit on it the color of my frame. All I need now is a DG exhaust system. But I might not because i'm selling it as soon as its broke in. It will only see lawn and street while I own it. Its on the Restoration page Gary's Tecate

Tecatecrazy that is awsome looking, hows the Raptor shock working for you?

tecatecrazy
08-06-2004, 11:13 PM
thanks big green, I like it..lol. as far as the raptor shock, its awesome for motor cross. lands very nicely on large jumps, even landing in the middle of 50 ft tables (roughly 35ft...havnt had the balls to take the whole table yet). And the fit is perfect if you dont mind not having an airbox. now if i could just come up with a way of making the forks better. I've got 1" spacers in there but its just not enough, I may have to break down and buy some progressives from dennis kirk.

BigGreenMachine
08-06-2004, 11:53 PM
Thanks a lot Tecatecrazy, thats exactly what I wanted to hear it performed like. I got progressive forks springs and they are super stiff, can only compress them an inch or two by hand, don't even have to run air in your forks with them. As for the airbox, I think I can cut the back out where the contour is so its opened up and makes enuff room for the shock to fit and move. I've got a K&N and a UNI filter, both stock style so I don't want to spend more cash on a slip on filter.

Just out of curiosity, what is the diameter of the opening on the stock carb if I decided to buy a slip on filter?

ange where can i get a radiator cover like that one you have?

BigGreenMachine
08-07-2004, 06:56 PM
Thats a JWR number plate and they are fairly hard to come across. If you keep an eye on eBay and post in the classifieds about it you may find one.

ok, cool what about a front headlight assembly.

BigGreenMachine
08-08-2004, 06:34 PM
same rules apply to the headlight assembly, when i got my Tecate it never came with one and I'm prollay not going to run lights. Aftermarket should supply with something that will work.

82-8250R
08-08-2004, 06:40 PM
well i wouldnt run them either and it may not be a permanent thing but i want to be able to ride it at night and if i go to little sahara you have to have front and rear lights to ride at night so.....
