that used to happen to my freind on his kawasaki 4 wheeler...the shifter would move but it wouldnt click the gears down any...you just push on the shifter alot till it goes down. Its not always that simple tho..sometimes you have to tear into your bottom end and check out the gears and shifting forks.

you'll need to tear down the bottom end to you can get to your clutch, then you should be able to see the shift and the bolt and washer that hold it on. there should be a thrust washer on that assyblembly that you can flip around to patch it up until you get a new one. thats what happened to my bayou. i tried to keep on shifting when i was already in top gear. the drum keeps moving outward trying to shift into a gear thats not there and pushes out the washer and causes too much play on the drum and it doesn't shift all the way into gears and eventually gets stuck. i'm not sure but it sounds like thats the only it would get stuck in gear. i hope this helps

Will the shifter move up and down? After you've checked for stripped splines, try to rock the trike back and forth, hopefully you will be able to slightly spin the motor over a tad bit, and then push the shifter down. It should click. If it doesn't, spin the motor over with the pull start, and then try. If nothing else works, you will have to tear into the bottom end...

Actually there is a "L" bracket that connects the shift rod to the shift lever..It stuck in gear and I tried to move it with my foot while moving and it broke the bracket...I' ll make a "L" bracket and try to shift back in to gear...Thanks for all the help guys>>>
