Is there a half boot made for the drive shaft on the 87 250SX so I don’t have to take the swing arm off to replace it. I thought at one time I had been told there are split boots. I could modify one if there are. The caliper measurements are, Swing arm 2 15/16 or 3” a 3 inch boot would draw down Motor 2 9/16’’. If not I guess I will fabricate a boot I don’t really want to drop the swinger I should to check out the bearings but would rather not.

Thanks for any help

Well - the 87 is the best and most desirable year SX so why do it half ass?? It is a great opportunity to check all the bearings, seals and even the driveshaft while your in there. If you are running a ripped boot you are destroying the driveshaft and the front pinion bearing in the diff so it's not a good thing to do and good diffs fetch alot of chang. To each his own choice but I myself would fix it right for the whole 20$ boot. Lots of these boots rip because the fender support rod is missing and the fender catches the boot when landing from jumps. I also silicone under the boot surface and seal all the areas that the diff mounts to the swingarm and axle tubes after I file them perfectly flat. Good luck!

87' is the last year trikes were made...the 87' models were in limited quanties. So there aren't many 87' models out there.
