I see that some use them and some dont?

Should I or shouldnt I replace mine?
Advantages/disadvantages?

i use them...they look good and dont let all the dirt and stuff get down in your forks

I use them, they look nicer and as long as they aren't tore, they should only help not hurt.

you can go to any auto parts store and get pretty much any color boots for $10 bucks a pair. it is not going to break anyones bank account lol

It depends on the kind of riding you do. I need fork boots for the riding I do becuase, I like the mud, and water. If mud or water is on/around/scraping on the forks the seals will blow, then they will need replacing.

ive always been told its good and bad because they do keep some things out but if somthing does get inside of the boots all they do then is hold it in

They also protect the sliders from damage. If you put a deep scratch or gouge in one of them, even new seals won't keep the oil in.

what i don't understand is why the tri z boots have a ring of holes in the bottom of them? surly this lets all sorts of crap in and out!

they are to let the air easily flow in and out of them...when they compress they let the air go out of them and when they stretch they let air back in. and they are better than nothing.
