1? what is filter oiland do i need to put it on my new air filter where can i get

filter oil is oil that goes on your air filter and helps break it in when it is new, check the k&n website for some they have it.

as far as I know it won't hurt it but it probley will not last as long.

The oil is what catches the dust and sand. The high flow filters don't filter the air as well as the foam ones. If you like cleaning carbs and rebuilding motors, don't put any oil on it. :D

If you do not put any oil on the foam filter (outer filter) you may as well not use a air filter at all. The oil is what stops the dirt from going through into the engine. But if it is for short term you can use regular engine oil but would receommend cleaning the filter after every ride.

Any local motorcycle dealer should have some oil for you. It just is not worth taking a short cut in this case espescially if you want the trike to last.
