Would 89 or 92 octane gas help or hurt a 4 stroke motor?

I have a new project im working on and the motor has a little wear I guess. When the RPMS are a litle lower it very lightly bucks and snorts. Would higher octane gas help? I would think that like in most cars the timing chain stretches a bit with age and hense advances the timing a bit sometimes to a hotter setting. If that holds true, I know that in cars such as mustangs higher octane gas makes the noises go away. I guess the noise would be detonation. Anyway would the higher Octane gas help or hurt anything? The motor is a Honda 500R four stoke.

You can get 100 different answers to that question on here. I say try it and see what happens.I dont think it will hurt it.

HIGHER OCTANE will not produce more power!!!! remember octane is control not power,,, with higher octane you can run more compression and more spark advance,,, if you don't tune for higher octane you will not get more power,,, sometimes even less,,, higher octane burns SLOWER so you don't get detonation,,,

I put VP race fuel in my 250r and it DID make a performance difference. I normally run premium fuel for a cleaner burn but how clean does a 2 stroke burn?

ya i was wonderin the same thin i have a yamaha 200, would or could i use high octane fuel?
