Any ideas where to get a crankshaft for my '84 200x or is the piston rod removable because that is the only bad part?

you can have the crank rebuilt, they do sell the piston rod kit still for the 200x, just buy the rod kit and bring that and a crank to a machine shop and have them rebuilt it for you, i forgot how much it cost to have one rebuilt, i havent had it done in forever, but it might be cheaper to just find someone with a good crank/rod assembly and buy it. seeing as 200x parts are everywhere

Thanks I will compare the prices if I can find a good crank out there but that seems to be the problem I can't find one.

There is a few atc junk yards down about an hour from you, i will try and get you some numbers so you can get a hold of them, My friend just bought a 200x swingarm with adjuster and axel all complete for 150 bucks from one.
I have a 350x and a cr250 for sale if your interested, and 2 83 r's PM if your looking to get somthing bigger then your 200x

I just had the crankshaft rebuilt on my Tri-Z before Trikefest. I got a new Rod, Crank Pin, thrust washers, and rod bearing plus an hours worth of labor for a grand total of $160. If you know for a fact that a used crankshaft is good, it'd probably be ok to use one instead of rebuilding the other. I gotta say though, the $160 was cheap assurance that I didn't have to worry about the old rod going through the bottom of my case.

Also, wherever you take it, make sure they balance it.

I've heard that the crank from the 185, xr200 and a few others all match with the 200x is this true or what differences do they have and will one of them work?
