Im planning on doing a auto X for the wife, but Id like to know what to and what not to do first....

To start I have a 83 200x and a 85 200s.....

Id like the 200s motor to put out a little more than stock, so I was thinking of useing the 200s lowwer with the 200x topend, and swaping out all the 200s electrics for the 200x, I have a 200x Bassani exhaust Id like to use along with the 200x carb....

So with all that said what sould and what shoulnt I do?

What will and what wont work?

Will it be worth doing any of this to the 200s motor, or should I just leave it stock?

Thanks for any info you might have.....

the 200s will bolt right into the X frame,if u want more power then the stock S engine you could try putting a wiseco piston kit in it,It is not that hard to do.the 200x carb will bolt on to the S engine but you will need the x intake.

Yes I would definitly use the 200x top-end along with the X intake and carb. My brothers 185X will woop a piped 200x in top speed, but the X kills it in throttle response mainly because of the way I ported his 185X. I ported it for higher velocity but when full throttle is given it gives the engine to much air to fast, which was easily fixed by jetting it richer. His 185X also has a 200x carb, cylinder, piston, and cam. Im not totally sure about the 200x electrical system working. Id say it will but thats just a guess.

Matt.....

I just got a magazine in the mail from 84250R..April '84 3Wheeling Mag..... bought it for the YTM200 test and 225DX hop-ups.... but..... it's ironic cause it has.....

1.) A complete artical on making a Automatic 200X
2.) Part 1 of a 250R Project with a pic/text about the Hondaline 300R kit. (no price though.... )
3.) An article about converting carb chokes to a remote choke (Which I've been thinking about doing when I get my 350X Dashboard setup with a ignition key, speedometer and tachometer.)

(All 3 articles were written by our own "oldfart' Dean!!

I'll try to scan in the article for you.... else I'll make copies from work. PM me you new address to mail you hard copies.

Laters,

bruce, the air cooled 300R kit, BRAND NEW from honda, with EVERYTHING you need, (cylinder, head, piston kit, new intake manifold, gaskets, new exhaust thing and bolt, new main jet, and everything else you could possibly need) was around $910

Wow..... I wouldn't have thought it to be that much! I see now why they had that fancy box too! :D .... My Speedo's, Tachometers, Fender Stabilizer, Fender Extenders, etc from Hondaline all just were in regular white boxes with the Hondaline logo ! :beer
