'85 200x aftermarket front wheel or tire?

Howdy all,

I am building a drag trike for my wife. It's a '85 200x top end with 200s tranny stuffed in the 200x frame. I need to lower the front alittle. I was thinking 22"-20" tire to fix this. The only tires offered that I can find for the 11" wheel are 23" or bigger. So what I need is a Doughlas 10" with the 200x bolt pattern, the trike will only have rear brakes so clearance is no problem.. Anyone got a 10" or a shorter than 23.5" tire for the 11" wheel . Does anyone have any info?

Just sent the email. I hope they understand that I need a 10" wheel with "0" offset and the proper bolt pattern.

Dougles is very good. For the 10 inch wheel all you need to tell them is that you need a 108 wheel with a 4 on 110mm bolt pattern in a 3+5 configuration.

A zero offset is not right. That would essentially be 0+8 wheel.

4 on 190 is right. I was typing rear and thinking front.

well I got a reply back they say that there is only 11" offered with 4/190..

I would make an attepmt to measure what the bolt pattern atcually is. I am not 100% sure it is 4 on 190. As I have a Douglas wheel on the front of my '84 R that is a 10" rim. My '84R takes the same front wheel as my X.

The other thing that it could be, is that the person you have talked to at Douglas is mildly retarded. I have dealt with them on many an occaision professionally and personally. It was more than a few times they told me things that were completely wrong. In a similair case they told that they had never made a 12x6 wheel with a 4 on 156 bolt pattern, but I had eight of them sitting in front of me with part numbers for them, given to me by a different employee. As this may not help you, it may give you some insight as to how poor their customer service is.

ITP is another wheel source that may have what you need. I would also consider talking to a Douglas distributor as Douglas will only sell direct to the customer with customs wheels in most cases anyway.

you could just slide the forks up into the trees farther to lower the front. a buddy of mine has a 85 250r with a 200x front end, he also raked the frame(dont remeber the degrees), and slide the forks into the trees farther, custom built swingarm out back. bike sits really low, but its a blast to drag race with, can still carve some dunes with it, but cant handle bumps very good.

I agree with Kevin, if you want a lower front end maybe try to lower forks in tripple tree. That is what we usually do to lower the ride on street bikes. You can also use a flatter handle bar with 1", 2", or 0" rise.
