Does the little rubber piece on the side of the motor case that the wires from the stator come threw have to be in? for some reason it's out on a 125m?
Thanks Eric

My guess would be YES to keep water/mud/etc out of there.

Yes it is there to keep dirt and water out, if you dont have it a good bead of silicone should be just fine.

Spray around it with degreaser and then put a thin layer of silicon around it to seal everything out.

you would think it is needed.... i kid up the road on a Blaster had a chunk the size of a dime out of the top of his flywheel cover... ive seen him cross rivers with water up to the seat and the thing never missed a beat.. there is no way I would do it with one my bikes, but it was funny for him to do it.....

I think its important to note, that on a 2 stroke, if that grommet is gone or badly damaged the only place water/dust/dirt is getting into is the flywheel/stator area which is sealed off from the rest of the engine. On a 4 stroke, this area is opene to the rest of the engine oil and all the transmission. Do what you must, but if its on a 4 stroke you have to be alot more carefull about what goes in there since the transmission and oil are open for cantamination.
