tri-z carb boot

I am putting a 38mm carb on my tri-z. I was just curoius how you get the carb boots to strech to fit the larger carb. I am thinking of running a k&n filter right off the carb. Does anyone have any experience with this. If so what filter woud work? I also heard that an it 250 intake would work but doesn't that have an angle to it? Any info would really help.
