Okay...I vaguely remember a post about this. I have a line on an 85 250R in, I would say, great condition. All stock except for a new pipe (Fatty) and sand tires on alu rims. I got the guy down to $1400. It comes with the stock rims and tires also (in good shape). What do you guys think??? Also, isn't an 85 more limited on aftermarket parts? Isn't the 86 interchangeable (rear end, motor, and a few other things) with all the 250R quads??? Please help. I may pick up the bike (or not) tonight. Thanks!

well first, if the bike is in good shape, go for it man, plus with the rims and pipe, hell why not, i say go for it, market for parts and after market is very good, and i do belive that parts are interchangeable with the 250r fourtrax
Good price great bike there maby bering carier differences or axle differences but so what, parts are availible and it's a honda it dont need nothing.I aint even sure what the differences are but I think its swing arm and rear end crap but you can make 86 atc or 87 trx stuff work.

As far $1400 thats an excellent deal for a liquid R. Most go over $1500

Both years are basically the same.
The most significant differences are with the swingarm, carrier, rear caliper mount, and axle. 86Rs use the same parts as the TRXs so more after-market parts out there.
At the moment, you can get parts for both years quite easily so its not really a concern which year to own.
