Oil Temp Question?

I was just reading my 250es manual which also covers the fourtrax 250 and noticed the quad 250 has an oil temp warning light. Why does it have this and the trike doesnt? Is it because the trike cools better than the quad? What do you do if the oil gets to hot. Shut it off and wait?

Also on this grizzly 600 quad these people we know have, you have to pull in a lever that turns the oil temp light on before starting, i think the lever is the rear brake lever but what would this have to do with oil temprature?
