Is this supposed to look like this

The cam chain was broke on my '85 200x so i pulled the stator off and found something weird. It looks like the stator has been spinning on the shaft and there is a woodriff key on the shaft but no place for one on the stator. Click on picture and take a look

its been spining so long it just looks like theres on place for a key look closer

did the motor lock up at a high rpm.

no the motor didnt lock up at high rpms, I pulled the clutch and cam chain broke. I should say that the motor ran fine.

I would hazard a guess that there use to be a place for a key on the stator. There is on my X, but it's not a woodruff key, it just a plain square key.

happon to me not long a go.on a 85

Had the same problem, woodruff key busted and the trike would not start. I had to clean out the shredded metal and make a new woodruff key from a standard size one. Still works great..you may need a new stator though if yours is rotted out.

well It doesnt look to bad. I think I will try to make a new groove for a key and go from there. Thanks
