225 dx help needed

hey guys...need some help. was just riding my dx around and something happened when i shifted into 1st gear. everthing work and shifts ok but something is rattling around pretty bad by the pull starter. any idea what this might be? :confused:

perhaps the pullstarter cage busted and its making noise, also could be something in your tranny but i dont know much about bottom end repairs or prolems.

don't drive it like that,,,does the electric start work?..if so take the recoil starter off ,,,fire it up with the elec. start and see if the noise is still there

yup. the electric starter does work. i'll take the recoil off and check it out.

Be very careful when taking the pullstart off. Put a screwdriver in the assembly, so that spring doesn't violently explode when you take it apart. I've had it happen where that clip has busted, and everything came out in a wild frenzy.
