View Full Version : Engine boggs at full throttle

I have an ATC110 that I have been working on and I've got it running pretty good. I rebuilt the carb and it runs pretty good except for when I open it all the way up it boggs down and sounds like its missing. I have the clymer manual and have looked at what they suggest such as, the main jet needle setting, valve clearance, weak cdi and so on and I'm going to try changing the main jet needle setting first (it just seems like the easiest place to start). Just wondered if anyone had any input or experience with this.

Oh yeah, I also wanted to throw in this, if im sitting on the bike and have it in 1st on the low end of the trans. just idleing and then i goose it it produces the same effect, just kind of boggs down. I have do a gradual opening of the throttle and then it sounds good.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Im sure the carb is clean. When you say "exhaust is clean and sealed" do you mean the exhaust valve?

Thanks,
Jeremy

That sounds like my problem but myne it dont matter gradualy or fast, as soon as I push the gas a little more it boggs down, rich fuel is what everyone says but i still didnt get it fixed

Well, I've fixed part of the problem. Now I can go full throttle through all gears and it is great. I actually had to adjust the main jet needle to the lowest setting (more rich) I first started making it more lean and it ran like total crap. then i starting moving the c-clip down and now it runs pretty good. It still hesitates off the start though. It sits a nice low idle and just purrs but when i hit the throttle in hopes to bring the front tire off the ground it just boggs down and then i have to let up and everything is ok.

Any ideas as to what might cause the hesitation?

Thanks,
Jeremy
