86 Big Red Starter probs

My 86 Big Red kick starts and runs great but the electric starter is another story, it will click but not crank over. I have a new battery that when charged it will crank over and start but after a few days it is drained. Seems to like to start better in warm weather, will not even turn with a fully charged batt in winter (Im in MN).

Any ideas where to start?

Do a trace along all your wires to make sure there is no power draining somewhere. Make sure you have good grounds. You could also check the starter on a battery by it self to see if its the part that might be draining the battery down.

Sounds like the armeture ( sp? ) and or brushes are going bad in the starter motor itself. Hopefully it is only the brushes. ;)
