I might be buying a 200x frame, that needs the motor, intake&outtake, and electrical.
I have a 185 that i want to put it's motor into the frame.
Will the electrical work on it?? i suppose i'd need a 185 headlight.
I know the exhaust won't fit, or the airbox, but would a cobra exhaust for a 185 fit, seeing as how they come out and off to the side like a Regular bike, rather than the stocker going through the middle?
I think the seller might have a 200x exhaust system, but would that have too much flow for the 185? I was told a 185cobra exh. doesn't have enough back pressure, and it burns the valves out, would the X exhaust be worse or is that just Bull.
thanks

This is easier than your making it out to be. The 200x exhaust will work fine with the 185 motor. The electrical for the 200x will work with the 185 and vice versa. You may have to do a little wire splicing for the stator but that is about it. If the 200x has a headlight then use it.
The hardest part of doing a 185 - 200x motor swap is the rear brake peddle. But that isn't too hard either.
I have done at least 10 motor swaps. ;)

does the foot lever mount just have to be welded on?, i have a welder, so if so it shouldn't be hard

hey how much you getting that frame for ?? is it like a complete roller?
know of anymore cheaper 200x's around?

The brake OEM 200x peddle won't work with the 185 motor. Why? The 200x brake peddle mounts on the motor at the kickstarter shaft. What most people do is take a 185s, 200s, or similar brake peddle and rework it so that it fits on the bottom foot peg mounting pin. The pivot point of the 185s / 200s peddle will need to be drilled out to fit the mounting pin. The peddle will also need to be shortened and bent a little to fit properly. If you hold up a 185s / 200s style peddle to compare it you will see what I am saying.
One last thing that will need to be done is a custom linkage made to activate the master cylinder.
Yea, this may sound complicated, but it isn't.
There is one other way around all this fabricating. That option would be to buy a paddle from someone that already has one made up, or that can make you a set up. Then all you need to do is install it. A long time ago there was 3-4 users from here that had at least one of these or could make them. I am one of those users. I do have one or 2 on hand and ready to go, and I can also make more of them.

I am going to pick up the 200x roller tommorow, and will post pics of my truckload when i get back.
He told me all it needs is the motor+carb and electrical.
I can't wait to not have to get beat all to hell from driving a hard tail.

Your also going to need the 200x intake for the carb.

Howdy do you have pics of this paddle?
Blazer, does it need the intake that bolts onto the motor, or just the hose from the airbox to the carb??

I don't have any pictures of it as of yet. Sorry!!
The intake manifold ( Boot ) is the piece that is used to connect the carb to the head ( motor ). You have to use a 200x one because the 185 has a different bend to it.
To help out the best possible way I can here: When doing a 185 in a 200x chassis swap you will only be changing these items: the motor, a little wiring, and the brake peddle and carb ( Carb change is not required ). You will not use the kickstarter on the 185 either.
You will need to use Everything else ( Intake manifold or boot as Blazer called it, exhaust, air box, air tubes, shifter lever, ect ) off of the 200x to make it work properly.
From the 185 or 200cc centrifical clutch model machines you will need these items: The whole motor complete with pullstarter and stator, Carb ( optional ), & rear brake peddle ( modified ).
To answer a question that hasn't been ask yet:
To wire up the stator correctly: There is 3 wires coming from the 185 stator. Black with a red stripe wire, Yellow wire , and a green wire.
To wire them up:
The black with red striped wire from the stator ( motor ) gets connected to the black with red striped wire on the main harness under the gas tank.
The yellow wire from the stator ( motor ) gets connected to the yellow wire on the main harness under the gas tank.
The green wire from the stator ( motor ) get connected to either the green wire somewhere on the wiring harness and or to the frame / motor.
NOTE: the 185 stator wires will be too short and will need to be made longer to connect them properly. This is NO big deal what so ever.
The 2 wires for the CDI gets connected as they normally would.
That is all there is to the wiring. ;)

thanks

hey im doing that project right now also..i just got the rear tires and rims and the shock on there..i have a ? ...where does the shock reservoir go? i cant seem to find it anywhere..or if its the place i think it is i may have put the shock on backwards..or can u do that? the shock feels nice but it has a sound like water bubbles coming out of it..but the shock is stiff..i dunno how water would have gotten in there but thats what it osunds like..anyone have input on this? o yea..can u use the x stator for the 185 engine?..they look the same.. just has longer wires..and howdy..how much u want for one of those pedels?

Looking back at my first few posts makes me laugh. I had no idea what I was getting into, these pics are of what i bought back in may. The bike was just WROTE. the rims/hubs were big red hubs, headpipe(unknown) had a lawnmower muffler welded to it, needless to say i didn't have much to work with from the beginning
