I ordered all the stuff I need to make my Tecate a roller today. Just a rebuild for the forks and all the bushings and swinger caps for the rear. Also went ahead and ordered the fork tool thats in the Tecate service manual cause I can't get those damn forks apart. All in all it came to over $250 just for some cheap little caps and seals... :( Still have to order the internal shift shaft and shifter which will be another $200, what a drain on the bank book. Excited about all the parts that are coming my way though so this project should soon be a wrap.

Why don't you just buy a used bottom end or whole motor on ebay instead of buying the internal shift shaft? Then you will get a bunch of spares for the same price.

I've gotten a whole bottom end off eBay but its the same deal as mine, stripped shaft with welded on shifter. Besides that I have a set of NOS Engine Cases that I'm going to swap my old ones with and while I have the cases split and changing over parts I may as well put in a NEW shaft so that I don't have it strippin out in the back of my mind. Thanks for the advice though. Any luck finding a Tecate yet?

oh yea, i forgot to take that off. I bought one frome NICKG, but i have to wait till i get out of college to go pick it up. Its and old flat tracker from kentucky i think he said. calfab+3 swinger, unknown axle + 6ish if i recall, steering dampener, madded steering stops, and a 40mm carb. It hasn't barely been run since the 80's, i'm real excited to get it. Nick is a real good guy too, he knows his stuff. good luck with your project, hope you can find everything for it!
