It's an 83 185s, I took all the jets out of the carb, cleaned them and sprayed out the jets and carb with compressed air. I didn't screw in the air mixture screw in and count, I just figured I'd go with how many the manual said, but it hasn't been working right since, I even stripped the carb down again and cleaned it again, just in case i had loosened a piece of dirt, that later dislodged when i ran the bike. It works perfect from idle to 1/2 throttle then from there to 3/4, it sputters, pops, and bogs out, and then from 3/4 to WFO, it works fine again. could this be my air mixture screw? i have tried turning it a little bit in both directions, but there was no difference. I ordered a new needle, slide, and seat, for the carb. would that have anything to do with it? I was told that they wear out, and make it not work right, so I am going to try that, but it'll be a week before that comes in.
If anybody has any suggestions, plz tell me.
thanks
Jon

Did you try adjusting your needle position?

adjust needle position? do you mean change the needle clip position? it's in the stock clip position (2nd).
It sputters 1/2-3/4, do you think too much gas, or too much air?

Yeah, needle or needle clip... whatever you want to call it. If its in the stock position it should be ok unless you've added an aftermarket exhaust or running with no air box, but that usually affects the main jet. I would just play with the needle clip position and see if it helps any. To make it leaner, move the clip UP and to get a richer setting, move the clip DOWN.

I put the clip down a notch, and it seemed to be working a hell of a lot better, I judge how well it's working by how well it wheelies, how good it comes up, how good it is at staying up, etc. I also just punch it and climb a couple hills or something to make sure it feels right. :TrikesOwn
