Hey.... was wondering about this. I got 2 YTM200ERNS and a regular 225DX Yamaha. In that parts lot, I got 3 225 engines and a 200E engine. One of those has reverse. Can i just take the side piece and transmission and replace it onto the regular 225DX motor? Anyone ever try this? OR.... should I just hang onto it as a spare for the 2 200ERNS??? How reliable are the reverse mechanisms in these trikes?

If you have a 225 engine with reverse it is a 225dr engine which can be bolted in with little or no modifications. I think that the shaft cover and gears can be swaped over but am not to sure. The reverse gears seem reliable but the reverse handle can break, it seems that most of them have the plastic locking piece broken but that can be bought at a Yamaha dealer for around $15. Someone on the board has a 225dx with a 225dr engine so hopefully they will post.
