I was just talking to a guy that says his honda trike carb is worn out.

I have owned a bunch of different machines and have NEVER found a worn out carb that needed replaced yet. The only wearable item in a carb is the slide and the needle and seat. Maybe float because of wear and the level will get out of adjustment.

I have replaced a few seats and float needles they move up and down millions of times and finally get wallored(sp) out and won't seat properly.

I have NEVER bought a carb kit either.

PROPER CLEANING of a carb is the most important thing you can do. Make sure every passage is clean. Compressed air is a must in my opinion.

1) I'm just wondering what some of you other guys have found as problems.

2) If you replaced a carb. Please tell me why.

3) If you bought a carb kit. Please tell me why.

Sometimes the needle valve will wear out or gum up but other then that I have not had to replace anything. A whole carb. kit can be cheaper then the one valve from honda.

A carb kit costs about $16--at my dealer, just the needle is $19.99. A needle and seat costs about $35. The only reason I've bought a carb kit is the cost. I get a new needle and the other stuff is just extra. I do use the new o-rings just because I have them. No reason to replace a carb unless it has a bullet hole through it.

Well damn I've learned me something tonight. :D I will price a carb kit next time to see if it is cheaper. I know Polaris doesn't have a carb kit available.

Agree. I also, put a fuel filter on them both. Well see how that helps keep them clean also :D

Wallowed is the word you are looking for. Slang term.
The slide and carb wall can become quite worn in dirty conditions. Watch for this.

Some of the o-rings wear out after time. Remember we are talking 17+ year old trikes.
