I do believe the Air Cooled ones had somewhere around 26-28 HP.

I think the liquid cooled versions were around 38-39HP, or around that area.

The '81 and early '82 model 6.6:1 compression R's had 20hp. The mid '82 6.7:1 compression ratio and modified ported R had 23hp, The '83 6.7:1, 30mm carbed, revised ported R had 26hp, the '84 7.3:1 compression, revised ported motors put out 28hp. The '85 is quoted at having 29kw of power in the overseas only catalog - the conversion of kw to hp is multiply kw by 1.3410 - which gives you the magical 38.8hp that has been quoted for years as the horsepower rating for the legendary liquid cooled 246cc masterpiece of engineering we call the "R".
