carb swap ?

Can I bolt on a 26mm carb right on to my stock intake that has 24mm carb?

Chuck, It should not be a problem. My 250R has a 38mm carb on a boot that was made for a 34mm. If it's real tight (as it should be ;) ) try heating the boot in boiling water and push a beer bottle into it. Let it cool, remove the bottle and the carb should slide right in.

If you get a 26mm XR200 carb you will also need a 26mm '80~'84 XR200 intake.
