Frame is sand blasted and painted, bottom end of motor is assembled with new rod, clutch plates, water pump seal, shift shaft seal, and clutch pusher seal. Top end is at NAPA to be bored and new piston kit. Soon as I clean up the motor, I will paint it gloss black or something and install it. One thing I thought really bites is the water pump impeller, just presses on?? that stinks. The shaft in the motor wouldnt fit the impellers I had, so I had to swap shafts, pain in the neck. It fits BETTER, but I cant see how the heck it pumps water if it is just snugly on the shaft?? Can I get a new impeller? is this a common wear part?? seems like a chitty design. soon as I start assembly there will be pics 'o plenty. (if the pic option is ever put back up here)

hey holic check with your yammmy dealer. i know that they do make a all aluminum one for a banshee. maybe that will fit the z.....or look through a dirt wheels. i have seen these alot.........i like the idea of the impellar stuck on there instead of just snugged...hope this helps a NEW YORK brother out.........see you at TF 04................

New impellers are available. I never rebuild a motor w/o putting in a new impeller. They commonly come loose from the shaft and then you roast your engine.

Replace the impeller, NOW. It is bad....if the end comes off the shaft, it's toast. A new one costs 20 bucks from the Yammy dealer.

It IS crappy design and they fail often. The stock and aftermarket aluminum one for the Banshee will NOT work. After melting a piston at the Sunset Ramblers harescramble when yet another one failed on me, I decided it would be the last time, and Im working on an electric coolant pump setup. Im just waiting for my replacement cylinder to come to set it up and try it out. I also got a temp guage from the auto parts store to rig.
