I thought this might be a neat thread... please tell us your story of a really cool ride, the first time you rode, whatever.
I remember on on winter night about 87', a group of us were on a night ride on a Saturday night. It was brutally cold, but clear and it was a full moon. We headed up to this large place in Marmora Ontario (the Marmora mines). It was an old iron mine and was pit riding heaven. Literally 50 acres of this small pea gravel and sand. Hills all over the place! Awesome! Anyway, there was a big lagoon next to the mine, and we made a big fire out on the ice, cooked up some burgs to help warm up, and in between we would race around the lake and into the surrounding mine area. It was a blast, very memorable. Just not enough time and not enough gas!
Life was sooooo much simpler back then!

It wasn't my trike I had a 1982 Honda XR80.
When I was in grade school early 80's. I lived in Detroit Tx. We got crap loads of rain in the spring. We had a piece of plywood that we pulled behind either a 110 or 90. We would drag each other through the mudd for hours and hours.
Our biggest worries were being able to get a dollar or two together to fill all the machines when we rode down to the 7/11. Not to many laws back then.

When I was 9 or 10, we had 2 '85 big reds at our hunting lease in mississippi. I remember waking up to the sound of those trikes warming up (it was usually "really cold" outside). Then I'd get to take one to my "spot" in the woods. At night, we would ride all over that place and come back to the fire every once in a while to warm up.

Man it is really tough to pick just one.
A few that come to mind.
When my '84 250R was brand spanking new I used to ride it up the back stairs and park it in the kitchen.
Ridin' the TT track and the ATV track at Indian Dunes.
The good old days at Pismo when you could ride from the Pier all the way to Devils Slide.
Good Days.......

Well this was when I was a little lad. It was back in 1985. Why I remember that year its cuz I bought a brand new 200x off the show room floor. Anyway, I kept it at my next door neighbors house(my buddy) since my parent wouldnt allow me to get one( I saved up money to buy it). We skipped school one day and decided to go ride our 200x's. He had my old 83 model. We were climbing some serious steep hills. Well there was one that was a monster and we really wanted to do it. So I was moving all the brush and sticks out of the way so we could climb it without hitting anything or without having something that might make us flip.
As I am talking with my buddy I am picking up sticks and end up picking up a copperhead snake(very posionious). He bit me right between the thumb and pointy finger. My hand started to swell immediately. I killed the snake out of dispite and keep his head to show the doctor(which kind bit me). We rushed to the hospital and my hand was no longer a hand.....it was an inflated ballon. They stick it with a few needles just to relieve the pressure. Anyway, long story short, I was on life support for weeks and made it thru. Almost a month in the hosiptal and I got out ok. But I was busted really bad since we were skipping school....but the teachers and parents both didnt care about that........they were just glad I was alive!!! Sorry for the long story............peace

When I first walked towards my 200es, buying it, my first thought, this is a beast.

Scott, that is intense! Yikes!
Man, I still remember when we bought our 85' 250SX brand new, what a machine, it was a cadillac compared to our Yamaha 175! I couldn't sleep for a week!

Theres alot, so I'll share two....
The first time I ever rode a trike. It was a 1982 Big Red, a good friend of mine owns it. It was pretty beat up, used around the farm. But anyway I was so used to my 3.5hp mini-bike that everytime I would turn I would put my leg down lol. That was the first time I ever drove any ATV.
The second kindve funny memory. My neighbor was doing a video on the ecosystem for bio, and for a carnivor scene we chased each other all over the cabin hill, muddy, spring time. I was on my ol' 82 185S and he was on his so called "beast" 97 bayou 220. We raced up and down up and down covered in pure sticky mud. Then he rolls his "beast" over at the bottom and I fly right past him lol. Even better we got it on camera!!

Hey cool! Somebody local!
Can you still ride in the mine? I haven't been there in 10 years, I thought it was all fenced in?
Kris
I remember when I first rode my friends bigred at night. It was crazy flooring it threw the tight thick woods with nothing but the head light to help you threw the pitch black. Hitting little unexpected bumps and holes.... good stuff

I have ridden quads since 1985, I had a yfm80 then upgraded to the yfm200n that i still have today. In about 1988 I stumbled across a really beat up 1986 ytm225dr at the shop where i work. After little swindling, I have this thing in the garage reassembling the rear end, draining all the water that had been in the motor for a year, and a little carb work. Now i had never ridden a trike before this. It wasn't 2 minutes and this three wheeled creation was laying on top of me in the front yard. After relearning how to ride and some custom welding (there wasn't any rear grab bar on the back), that thing was the most fun that i ever had. My buddies and i ran that trike non-stop for a year and it never missed a lick. Nothing like a free three wheeler when you are in middleschool.
Last summer i rode all the trails in the Northern White Mountains.Put at least a 100 miles on it before i did my resto. The trials are like two way roads. The views are very good as well.
