Well depends on which Tri-Moto he has. If he has a YT125 or 175, it's two-stroke. If he has a Tri-Moto(YTM) 200 or 225, it's four stroke.

My 225 DR does the same. Doesn't smoke until it warms up some. It's in need of a topend rebuild. It's either bad rings or valves and valve seals. My suggestion is to do a topend rebuild.

my 1985 dr 225 is in peices right now cause of that problem it's getting a complete topend rebuild and some extra's,also i'm redoing the whole chasis too.

well i have been practicing my wheelies so the pressure might of left it and its only for like 3 seconds then it will kill then i start it and then it will be fine. be fine its a 200 four stroke

Tryiing doing hot and cold compression tests on the motor. If the compression is really low you most likely have bad rings.
