Hey, I have a few questions that I need answered before I can move on with my project '81 R. First, here's the list of mods thas gonna be done to it:

fresh overbore fitted with a high-performance Wiseco piston and rings
cylinder ported, polished, decked, and chamfered
head milled
Boysen Pro Series reads
full DG 2-stroke racing series pipe and silencer

Ok, here are my questions

#1. I've heard that all reed valves from a 1981-1986 250r will interchange with each other. Can anyone confirm this? If so, I am going to get the V-Force 3. Anyone have these? How many sets of reeds do I have to order for that? and what exactly are reed cages?

#2. With all these mods, especially a ported head, I was looking at a new oversized carb. The stock is a 27mm and the smallest Mukini I could find is a 32mm. I was also going to get a Dial-A-Jet to go with it. Would this be a wise decision or not? And if it will work, should I get the regular version or the flatside?

#3. I'm getting an '84 front end and need to know the RIM size. I know the stock tire is 23.5x8x11 but what about just the rim?

Thanks

talk to your porter about carb size. 36 and 38 mm airstrykers work real good. Bigger carb=more topend. good luck. ;)

Yep, you're right. I guess I'll be copying you. :D Kenda Front Max on the front and Razr 2's on the rear. I still need to know the rim size though.

atc86r - isn't a 36 mm and 38 mm a little too big? I don't know much about oversized carbs and what their effect is, but thats like 10mm bigger than stock. Wouldn't it load up at lower RPM's?

Mines a 250r with 38mm air stryker. Suppose the bigger carb just gives more air. The jetting gives the amount of fuel.

Ok, that makes sense now. What size jets did you have to get? I'm thinking about the Mukini 38mm flatside.

I run the keihin. When I had Dickdizzy do my engine combo he sent my carb with a .170 main. I bought the rest of the jets below and above that number.
