Anyone done this before? can you just uncrew the screw on the bottom, an drain the oil out, and refill? I need to go to a heavier oil. Also, how much does it use? Someone said 4 ounces i think?

yes you can drain and fill them that way,but that bolt holds the whole assembly together.once you pull that bolt, you can slide the lower fork tube rite off, there is what is called a taper spindal at the end of the upper assembly,be carefull not to loose it,at that point you can also replace the fork seals, there is a cir-clip on top of the seals that has to come out first.four ounces is the correct amount of oil per fork, and 10-w is the correct oil, heavier oil may (probably will) blow the seals.any bike shop should 10 weight fork oil. good luck

Thank you so much! Ok, then I'll just take the bolt out, and drain the oil out. So you don't need to pull the seals out first, if you want to slide the tube out? Also, that tapered spindle, How does it come out? And does it come out if you just take the bolt out?

the taper spindal will be at the end of the upper assembly.(it's just a cup that slides over the end).the bolt goes through the taper spindal and threads into the damper-rod.(it's easy....you'll see). make sure the bolts tighten down good when you put it back together and check them now and then to make sure they stay tight
